Papers of Isaac H. Vrooman, Jr. Ten Eyck family genealogy
Preliminary Inventory Bulk dates: 1875-1944 4 folders (ca. 140 items)
This accession comprises 4 folders of material related to the genealogy, history and coat of arms of the Ten Eyck family, a prominent New York household. Materials include correspondence and notes of Isaac H. Vrooman as well as some ephemera and personal correspondence of the family which he collected during his research. This collection includes material relating to Peter Gansevoort Ten Eyck, a New York Mason and candidate for governor in 1928. The material here was found in the Library’s general collections. The original order had not been preserved and no attempt has been made to restore it. As a preliminary measure, materials have been divided into 4 folders as follows:
1. Correspondence and notes relating to Vrooman’s genealogical research for the entire family.
2. Correspondence, notes and ephemera relating to individual family members.
3. Pre-1860 papers (separated for conservation reasons). Includes 4 pieces of Ten Eyck family correspondence/business papers (1809-1823) and 1 early (1857) letter to Isaac Vrooman (possibly Sr.?) relating to his genealogical research.
4. Newspaper clippings, primarily obituaries (separated for conservation reasons.)
