Virtual Lecture: “The Crane-Balestier Letters: Holland Lodge in the Age of Schisms”
February 25, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Before the Civil War, Freemasonry in New York suffered from forty years of conflict during which various rival groups claimed jurisdiction over the Craft. During this Age of Schisms, Holland Lodge No. 8 took the unusual course of declaring independence and operating without a Grand Lodge.
This presentation by Bro. Bradley Corsello tells the complete story of Holland’s independence for the first time anywhere and introduces the men and Masons whose plots and intrigues nearly destroyed one of the oldest and most eminent lodges in the City.
Bro. Corsello is a Past Master of Solomon’s Lodge No. 196, Tarrytown, NY, and a member of Ancient Chapter No. 1 and Azim Grotto. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Engineering and Case Western Reserve School of Law and is an attorney specializing in intellectual property.
