Virtual Lecture: The History of Calendars

In this month’s lecture, VW Christophe Lobry-Boulanger will take us through the history of the calendar and describe the evolution of the various types of calendars (lunar, solar, lunisolar, and sideral) from Ancient Egypt to the Classic Greek era, leading to Republican Rome and the Julian calendar, and finally, Medieval Christianity and the Gregorian calendar. His presentation is inspired by the works of Alexander Philip, David Harper, and Alan Longstaff

Lecturer Bio:

VW Lobry-Boulanger served as Master of France La Clémente Amitié Cosmopolite Lodge № 410 from 2012 to 2013. He currently serves as Assistant Grand Lecturer in the Tenth Manhattan District of the Grand Lodge of New York, Vice-President of the Wardens & Deacons Association, and Trustee of the Masters & Past Masters Association.
