Internship Opportunities

Intern at the Livingston Masonic Library!

The Livingston Library seeks interns from MLIS or Archives Studies graduate programs to assist with projects in the Archives. Start and end dates are flexible, and students must commit to 8 hours per week. The Livingston Library is open 8:30-4:30 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and open from 12-8 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Internships are unpaid, but can be used for course credit.

Preservation Internship

The Preservation Intern will work with our Curator and Museum Technician to begin re-housing the photography collection. This collection contains prints, negatives and slides dating from the early 20th century to present. This project is ideal for someone interested in preservation, looking to gain hands-on experience. The preferred candidate would have some photography knowledge and some familiarity with a Collections Management System, preferably PastPerfect.

Requirements:

-Currently enrolled in an Library and Information Science or Archives graduate program

-Interested in pursuing a career in special collection or archives

-Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

-Ability to lift, bend, and reach boxes or volumes weighing up to 30 pounds

-Well-organized and detail oriented

-Ability to work independently and collaboratively

-Familiarity with PastPerfect CMS

Metadata Internship

The Metadata Intern will work with our Librarian/Archivist to establish finding aids for our Lodge files. This work would require the use of Microsoft Excel and an Archives Management System. Someone highly detailed who possesses knowledge of EAD and DACS would be preferred. The outcome of this project will produce a complete finding aid, which could be used in a student’s portfolio.
